Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal cell having a uniform space of the cell gap and showing the uniform electrooptic effect, by controlling the gap between two transparent substrates by a polystyrene globular spacer which is inserted between the gap. CONSTITUTION:After a transparent substrate is subjected to an orientation treatment in order to orientate and arrange a liquid crystal in a prescribed direction, one side of the substrate 2 is put in a box 1, and a globular spacer made of polystyrene together with nitrogen gas are blown in the box from a hole 3 provided at one side of the box 1 and is stuck on the surface of the substrate 2 as expressed by 6. After a prescribed time elapses, the substrate 2 together with the spacer 6 stuck on its surface are taken out from the box 1, and they are adhered to the other transparent substrate 8 on which an epoxy resin 7 for sealing is printed and are pressured and heated while applying an even force 9 directions to obtain a liquid crystal cell. By the adjustment of the pressure 9, the spacer 6 either maintains its initial particle size or transforms to an oval shape and the aimed distance of the gap is obtained easily.
