Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform high density magnetic recording reproduction with high fidelity, by disposing a conductor layer not connected to an external circuit between opposing magnetic substance films of a thin magnetic head and preventing the reduction in magnetic reluctance at an air gap and the increase in leakage magnetic flux between both magnetic pole pieces.
CONSTITUTION: An insulating film 12 made of Al2O3 is formed on a photoceram base 10, and a lower magnetic substance film 12 is formed by sputtering "Permalloy " with 2μ thickness. A conductor layer 13 to increase the magnetic reluctance of air gap is vapor-deposited with 0.8μ thickness with Cu or the like to constitute a front air gap 14. Next, an insulation film 16 is formed with Al2O3 and a coil conductor 17(Ti) is formed, and after forming an Al2O3 film 13 on the conductor 17(Ti), an upper "Permalloy " 19 is formed with 2μ thickness. A magnetic substance 19 is connected to the lower magnetic substance 12 with a rear edge 15. Thus, the air gap 14 to a magnetic recording medium 20 is less in the reduction of magnetic reluctance in comparison that constituted with an insulation film conventionally, and the resolution of the magnetic head can be increased greatly.
