Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove phosphorus and nitrogen rationally from waste water contg. phosphorus and ammoniacal nitrogen by introducing said waste water into a packed bed stuck with nitrifying germs, and bringing the outflow liquid thereof into contact with Ca ions under anaerobic conditions in the presence of an org. carbon source.
CONSTITUTION: Waste water 1 contg. ammoniacal nitrogen and phosphoric acid is flowed into a packed bed 3 packed with granular solids 2 such as sand, active carbon and others as packing materials. The inflow water is passed through the inside of the bed 3, whereby the ammoniac nitrogen is oxidized with the effect of the nitrifying germs to nitrate ions. The outflow water from the bed 3 flows into a denitrification and dephosphorization tank 8, where the nitrate ions, nitrite ions and phosphate ions in the liquid are removed by the anaerobic contact with the calcium phosphate-contg. solids 9 packed in the tank. It is also possible to add an org. carbon source to the inflow water, if necessary.
