Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the amount of the residual developer in an assured and stable way, by setting a scraper between a control member of the developer and an oscillation type residual developer detector. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 5 of a development roller 3 is rotated to draw the magnetic toner into a developing device 2. Then a magnetic brush is formed on the sleeve 5 through a control member 11 with a certain height of the brush spikes. An electrostatic latent image is formed on a photoreceptor drum 1 by the magnetic brush. The magnetic toner used for the development is sent back to a toner sink in the device 2. In this case, the member 11 is formed on an upper plate 10 of the device 2 to control the amount of the toner which is drawn by the sleeve 5. A magnetic 6-3 is set opposite to the area between a residual developer amount detector 8 and a projected part 12a of a scraper 12 provided in front of the member 11. Then the toner on an oscillation member 9 of the detector 8 is also drawn by the magnetic links.
