Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor high in light response gain, by adding a specified squarinic acid derivative as a charge generating material and a specified 4,4'-bipenyl-diphenylamine derivative as a charge transfer material to a photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:A material contained in a charge generating layer as a charge generating material is a squarinic acid represented by the formulaIin which Y is H, OH, or CH3, and R is CH3 or C2H5, and a material contained in a charge transfer layer as a charge transfer material is biphenyl-diphenylamine represented by the formula II in which X is CH3 or Cl. Both the layers are formed on a conductive substrate to form a laminate photoconductive layer, or both the materials are mixed and contained in a single photoconductive layer, thus permitting charge generating and transferring efficiencies to be enhanced on the basis of irradiated light and a high-photosensitivity electrophotographic receptor to be obtained.
