Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the overhead of a software, by providing an intelligent input/output controller to store the data given from an input/output device into an internal communication memory and to transmit the contents of the communication memory to another communication memory at a remote place. CONSTITUTION:The computer systems A and B are connected via a communication line. With the user program of the system A is sent to the system B, the program is swapped into a main memory 1 from a disk 4. The transmitted data is extracted directly out of an optional address of the memory 1 or the disk 4 to be stored in a communication memory within an intelligent input/output controller IIOC20. The stored data is then stored in a communication memory in an IIOC21 via a transmitter/receiver 6, a communication line 13 and a transmitter/ receiver 12 to be transferred directly to an optional address of a main memory 7 or a disk 10 from the IIOC21. The IIOC can control all transfers of data with no use of the software at all. As a result, the number of softwares can be greatly decreased.
