Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled polymer having slight cold flow properties with prevented gelation, by using an allene compound and an ethylene glycol dialkyl ether, etc. in a specific proportion based on an organolithium catalyst as a gelation inhibitor.
CONSTITUTION: In polymerizing at least one conjugated diene monomer, e.g. 1,3-butadiene, or copolymerizing the monomer with 50wt% or less at least one aromatic monomer, e.g. styrene, in a hydrocarbon solvent, e.g. n-hexane, in the presence of (A) an organolithium catalyst, e.g. n-butyl lithium, and (B) a polyvinyl aromatic compound, e.g. divinylbenzene, or a polyhalogen compound, e.g. CCl4, as a modifier, (C) an allene compound of the formula (R is 1W10C alkyl), e.g. 1,2-butadiene, in a molar amount of 0.1W0.9 that of the component (A) and (D) an ethylene glycol dialkyl ether and/or a tertiary diamine in a molar amount of 0.01W50 times that of the component (A) are used.
