Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title resin by the radical polymerization of a mixture comprising a conjugated diene polymer having two molecular weight distribution peaks at the low molecular weight region and the high molecular weight region, and a vinyl aromatic compound, in bulk or bulk/suspenison.
CONSTITUTION: To prepare a high-impact polystyrene resin by the radical polymerization of (A) a conjugated diene polymer or a conjugated diene-vinyl aromatic compound copolymer obtained by the polymerization of diene compounds containing ≥50wt% of 1,3-butadine or by the copolymerization of the above diene compounds with a vinyl aromatic compound, and having two molecular weight distribution peaks at the low molecular weight region and the high molecular weight region, wherein the weight ratio of the high molecular weight fraction to the low molecular weight fraction is 90/10W40/60, the weight ratio of the conjugated diene compound to the vinyl aromatic compound in each fraction is 100/0W70/30, and the weight average molecular weight of the low molecular weight fraction is 1,000 W80,000 and that of the high molecular weight fraction is ≥100,000, and (B) a vinyl aromatic compound or a mixture of a vinyl aromatic compound and a vinyl compound copolymerizable therewith.
