Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the surface stress of a glass coating layer, by providing a coherent light source, a light projection mechanism for projecting a coherent light beam to the vitreous coating layer, and an emitting prism whose refractive index is larger than said coating layer. CONSTITUTION:An incident light beam 1 is projected to the vitreous coating layer 2 by the light projection mechanism, and an emitting prism 4 is stuck and installed on the coating surface 3. The incident light beam 1 is taken out by the emitting prism 4, and it is converged to one point on the focal plane of the objective lens 5. In this case, when the surface stress exists on the coating layer, the position of the boundary 8 of light and darkness is also different, and therefore, the surface stress can be derived by calculating the difference of refractive index from these positions. As for actual porcelain enamel and glaze, however, the surface is not always plane, and therefore, the accuracy cannot be obtained enough, but as a result of using a coherent light source, a thin interference fringe is formed on the focal plane, and the difference of refractive index is derived with sufficient accuracy by making the fringe a target.
