Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the effect of studying by making it possible to discriminate the gender of an output of a linguistic system in which nouns have gender by the quality of an audio response when making a response by automatically translating a word inputted by keys or voice into that of another linguistic system.
CONSTITUTION: A word inputted on keyboard 7 is applied to translating circuit 8, which translates it into a word of another linguistic system. From the corresponding area of ROM6 of this circuit 8, digitized voice data of the translated word is read out and applied via voice synthesizing circuit 9 to D/A converting circuit 10, which outputs the translated word in voice from loudspeaker 11. When this input word is translated and outputted in voice, the linguistic system in which nouns have gender is stored in ROM6 in barytone or tenor for the male or in femal voice and it is made possible to discriminate the gender from the output voice quality, so that the effect of studying can be improved.
