Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a removing agent for basic gases which is obtained by carrying nonvolatile acids in activated clay fired pellets and which is able to effectively remove basic gases.
CONSTITUTION: A binder such as water is added to activated clay in the form of powder and these are kneaded, molded and dried, after which the molding is fired at about 200W600°C. Next, an acid of about ≤100mmHg vapor pressure, for example, an inorganic acid such as sulfuric acid, boric acid or the like or an organic acid such as oxalic acid, tartaric acid or the like is carried at about 50°C in the thus resulted active clay fired pellets at 0.5W40wt%, preferably 2W25wt%, whereby the removing agent for basic gases is prepared. In the case of allowing a gas contg. basic gases to contact with this removing agent, the space velocity of the gas is set about 50W10,000/hr and the temp. at about 0W150°C. NH3 and amines contg. one or more N atom in a molecule may be enumerated as the basic gas.
