CONSTITUTION: Read-only memory 1 has addresses corresponding to all possible combinations of error correction and detection codes, and error correction and detection information concerning the corresponding code is written in each address. When error correction and detection codes C3, C2, C1 and C0 are input to memory 1 as address data, error correction and detection information corresponding to input error correction and detection codes are output as memory outputs Y0, Y1 and Y2, and then, these memory outputs are decoded by decoder 2 to output no-error information output T, multiple bit error information output MBE, correctable error information output CE, and so on.
