Abstract
PURPOSE: To let the pulling speed controlling which permits stable casting be done by removing the noise components of a detector not only when molten metal level fluctuations are small but also when they are large at the time of performing the captioned controlling through detection of the molten metal level height in the mold part.
CONSTITUTION: Molten steel 5 is poured and cooled in a mold part 3 from the bottom end of a tundish 4, after which it is formed to a slab 6 and is continuously pulled by pinch rolls 9 which are driven by a motor 11, at which time a casting ring 1 is also synchronously revolved by a motor 10. In this case, the molten metal level of the molten steel poured into the mold part is detected by a radiation type detector 8 and this is compared with a reference value. Only when the molten metal level changes suddenly and its fluctuation amount exceeds the reference value, a molten metal level deviation signal is added to the pulling speed command by way of a main signal line 14 by a blind zone circuit 15, whereby the rapid pulling speed controlling may be accomplished. When the molten metal level fluctuations are small, a time constant circuit 17 for primary delay applies the molten metal level signal to the pulling speed command through the auxiliary signal line 16 excluding the noise signal.
