Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Quinoline derivatives of formula I(X is halogen; R is COOR1, formula II, CH=CH-COOR2, CN, CH2OH; R1 is H, lower alkyl; R2 is lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 2-[4-(6-Fluoro-2-quinolinoxy)phenoxy]propionic n-propyl ester.
USE: Herbicide: they show herbicidal activity against various kinds of weeds, especially excellent effect on true grasses, meanwhile they do not injure wide-leaf crops such as cotton, soybean or eggplant. They may be applied to noncultivated places such as sport ground or edges of rail ways as well as cultivated fields, rice paddies and orchards.
PREPARATION: For example, the reaction of a compound of formula III with another compound of formula IV in the presence of equimolar or more amounts of anhydrous potassium carbonate in dimethyl sulfoxide at 120W180°C gives a compound of formula V, which is refluxed together with a compound of formula VI in a solvent in the presence of potassium carbonate to form the compound of formula I.
