Abstract
PURPOSE: To mold the stem of a glass vessel so that central rodlike colored glass is seen through outer transparent or light-colored glass by placing gobs of different colores in layers in a gob receiver set in connection with a stem molding tool followed by pressing with a plunger.
CONSTITUTION: By raising plunger 12, light-colored or transparent gob 15 and deep-colored gob 16 charged in gob receiver 9 are filled into stem molding cavity 4 through cavity 7 of split molds 6, 6' for a cutting part. Gob 15 rises, becomes 15', and melt-sticks to the lower side of ring 1, and gob 16 rises and becomes 16'. Plunger 12 is then lowered, molds 6, 6' are opened, and glass in the cutting part is cut with scissors to separate excess glass remaining in receiver 9. Split molds 3, 3' are opened, blowpipe 1 is detached from its holder, and the molding with the stem melt- stuck to the ring part is subjected to base molding in the next process with blowpipe 1 using glass equal to gob 15 in color to obtain a finished product.
