Abstract
PURPOSE: To die-forge a crank shaft with good molding efficiency and material yield with relatively small-sized equipment by making the direction of molding by forging into the direction where the respective centers of journal shafts and pin shafts are connected, at the time of molding a shaft-shaped blank material by dieforging with molding dies.
CONSTITUTION: A shaft-shaped blank material 1 such as billet or other is prepared as shown by, for example, alternate long and two short dashes lines, and is die- forged in the direction where the respective centers of journal shafts 2 and pin shafts 3 are connected, whereby a crank shaft consisting of the journal shafts 2 and the alternately offcentering pin shafts 3 on both outer sides thereof is forged. At this time, flashes 5 are produced on the outside circumference. According to this method, the respective pin shafts 3 are obtainable on one side of the blank material 1 and the other side thereof by bending of the same; therefore, the molding efficiency is good and the fatigue strength may be increased. In addition, the die life is long and the flashes 5 produced are relatively less, hence the yield is good.
