Abstract
PURPOSE: To form outer-wheel material in uniform-velocity joint by forging, provide projecting part and the like for the outer circle of its inlet and press the part into a given shape of inner circular surface of outer wheel and ball groove, thus lowering the cost for preparation.
CONSTITUTION: In the uniform-velecity joint formed by placing balls for transmitting torque assembled in ball cage between inner shaft and outer wheel provided respectively on each end of shaft to be liked, material for outer wheel 10 is formed solidly with shaft part 11 by preparing cup-shaped outer-wheel forming part 12 under cold or hot forging. Then projecting part 13 is formed on the outer periphery of inlet of the part 12, while almost the half of inner peripheral surface 14 located in its interior side is formed into prescribed spherical surface 14a and the other half located in inlet side into straight surface 14b extending tangentially from the part of maximum diameter of spherical surface 14a in the axial direction, in parallel or in somewhat expanding tendency. Ball groove 15 is formed in the same way. This is in die 16 and, being pressed by punch 17, is pressed into the shape as shown by chain lines.
