Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it with ease to prepare outer wheel for the purpose of mass production and lowering cost therof by connecting joint material obtained through press forming of thick pipe material with shaft material having bowl-shaped part, which is connected with joint material, by means of brazing and the like. CONSTITUTION:Outer wheel 10 of equal-velocity universal joint is composed of joint material 11 formed by pressing steel pipe material and shaft material 21 formed by forging steel. Joint material 11 is formed so as for its inner and outer periphery to become partially-concave spherical surface and partially-convex spherical surface, and on the inner peripheral surface 12 ball grooves 13 swelling radiately in the form of projecting thread outward in the radius direction, while forming concave thread inward, are providied in plural number. On the other hand, in the end of shaft material 21 is formed bowl-shaped part 25 solidly and on the interior wall of the part 25 are provided concave groove 26... and others corresponding to the rear of the outer peripheral part of joint material 11. Outer wheel 10 is completed by fitting the rear joint material 11 in the part 25 and connecting by means of brazing and the like the joined part of both 25 and 11.
