Abstract
PURPOSE: To cheaply remove dust and sulfur oxide by a method wherein SO2 in the waste gas is oxidized to SO3 in the presence of catalyst and SO3 is reacted with dust component to be fixed as sulfate.
CONSTITUTION: The waste gas is guided boiler 1 to an oxidation column 2 to convert SO2 to SO3. SO3 is absorbed by the dust where if metal component is insufficient, SOX absorbing agent such as CaO and MgO is added, and then the waste gas is introduced into a dust collector 4. This causes SO3 to react with the dust component or with added metal component and be fixed as stable sulfate, which is collected. In this manner, sulfur oxide in the waste gas is treated cheaply, simply, and efficiently.
