Abstract

PURPOSE: To regenerate adsorbing agent supported with activated carbon, by heat- treating the activated carbon supporting sulfurized metallic oxide in oxidizing atmosphere, then in inert atmosphere, further in oxidizing atmosphere respectively at specified temps.
CONSTITUTION: Activated carbon supporting sulfurized metallic oxide, e.g., CuxO, is oxidized in an oxidizing atmosphere at 60W190°C. Then the activated carbon supporting sulphate formed by the conversion of a portion of the sulfide is heat treated at 200W600°C in an inert gas atmosphere, hereby the sulfate is reacted with the activated carbon to reduce a portion of the sulfate to the metal. The activated carbon is further treated in an oxidizing atmosphere such as air at 60W190°C, so that the metal produced by the reduction is oxidized to the oxide once again.
