Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a CS compound accumulated to a reductant and to enhance a SO2 reducing ratio to convert SO2 to sulfur efficiently by controlling a carbonaceous reductant amount and an exhaust gas amount supplied to a reducing tower to adjust the reacting ratio of carbon on the reductant.
CONSTITUTION: A gas amount supplied to a reducing tower, a SO2 concn. in a gas amount exhausted from the reducing tower, a formed H2S concn. and a formed H2 concn. in the gas from the reducing tower, a SO2 reducing ratio by reaction, the amount of a reductant supplied to a reaction system and the amount thereof withdrawn from said reaction system are respectively detected and, from a predetermined calculating formula, an exhaust gas amount and a reductant amount supplied to the reducing tower are controlled so as to be able to maintain a carbon reacting ratio to 80% or more. When O2 concn. in the exhaust gas is high, the exhaust gas is supplied to an adsorbing and desorbing process to adsorb and desorb SO2 as well as to remove O2 simultaneously and, after SO2 concn. and O2 concn. are preliminarily adjusted, said gas it supplied to the reducing tower.
