Abstract

PURPOSE:To stop tape holes accurately over a data read element by emitting a stop signal from a detector thereby stopping the running of the tape at the time of reading tape stop codes with a data reader. CONSTITUTION:When the data hole opened on a tape 11b passes over a data read element, the data for one line are read 11 simultaneously, are subjected to waveform shaping 13 via a sprocket detecting circuit 12, and are subjected to data parallel to-series conversion 14, after which they are sent to an NC device B and are processed by the same. Here, when the circuit 11 reads a stop code, this signal is sent to the device B; besides, it is also sent to a decoder 16. A stop signal is supplied from the decoder 16 to an AND circuit 19. On receiving the sprocket signal of the circuit 12, this circuit 19 outputs ''1'' which turns off a start magnet FM for tape running and turns on a brake magnet BM for tape stopping, thereby accurately stopping the tape holes over the data read element.
