Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect both the reverse storage of an electrode groupand the deficiency of a separator which are caused in assembling a storage battery by an automatic assembling machine, by applying voltage across a conveyer frame, and the positive strap and the negative strap of the electrode group in order to detect any current in the frame. CONSTITUTION:Electrode groups 2 having an alternating polarity are sent by a conveyer 8, and a plural number of electrode groups 2 are automatically installed in a container 1 placed on a container receiving bed 5, thereby a battery being constituted. The electrode group 2 is stopped when a photoelectric tube 9 detects the location of the group 2 to be at a give position. A cylinder 10 descends to make detecting electrodes 14a-14c to touch a positive strap 11, a negative strap 12 and a negative terminal plate 13. Voltage is applied to a frame 8 through straps 11 and 12 in order to detect any current in the frame 8, and a buzzer or the like operates according to the result of the detection. By the means mentioned above, any reverse storage of the electrode groups 2 as well as any separator deficiency which might be caused by production misses can be prevented, and the efficiency of the automatic assembling of the battery can be enhanced.
