Abstract
PURPOSE: A yeast containing the titled substance is cultured in the presence of an agent that inhibits the electron transport to the electron transport complex III or IV in the course of oxidation in vivo to collect the titled substance in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: A yeast capable of producing coenzyme Q10, which belongs to Candida or Rhodotorula, is cultured in the presence of an agent that inhibits the electron transport to the electron transport complex III or IV in the course of in-vivo oxidation. The agent inhibiting the electron transport is, e.g., antimycin A1, n- heptylhydroxyquinoline-N-oxide, sodium azide or sodium sulfide. The cultivation is conduced in a general-purpose culture medium under usual conditions and the coenzyme Q10 produced is separated and purified by usual methods.
