Abstract
PURPOSE: Polybutylene terephthalate is melt spun at a specific spinning speed and drawn in a specific temperature range to permit the stable production of fibers suitable for clothing with no formation of fluffs and yarn breakage on drawing.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester composed of more than 85mol% butylene terephthalate units is melt spun at a speed of 1,800W4,000m/min, preferably at 240W270°C, drawn at a temperature shown by the equation (Smax is the temperature at which the thermal shrinkage stress becomes maximum, when measured under a load of 1/10 grams of the denier of the fiber at an elevating rate of 2.5°C/sec, preferably at a draw ratio of 1.05W1.9, preferably further heat treated at 150W170°C.
