Abstract

Filaments of polyester or fibres produced therefrom drawable with molecular orientation and having a double refraction of from 0.004 to approximately 0.12 and an individual denier of less than 2.5 dtex. In a process for the production such filaments undrawn filaments are permanently plastically extended while being passed through a water bath kept at a temperature of from 93 to 100 DEG C and are then extended in a ratio of at least 1:3. The take-off rate is not more than 2500 metres per minute. Such filaments can be used in the production of bulky mixed fibre yarns and non-woven fabrics.
