Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent an abnormal increase or decrease in water pressure resulting from the introduction or interruption of water into or from a hydrolic turbine and to stop the turbine smoothly in case where an emergency arises during power generating operation and a guide vane fails to close properly by a method wherein the opening degree of an inlet valve is kept as it is for a predetermined period of time.
CONSTITUTION: In case an emergency arises during the power generating operation G of the water wheel, it is detected by a protective relay at STEP86-1 and a water wheel stopping magnet is energized at once causing a clutch to go OFF. Next, a load control is stopped at STEP77M and a speed adjustment function is locked at STEP65F. Further, at STEP21T, the inlet valve begins to close gently instead of closing imediately, after a lapse of a predetermined time ΔT during which the opening degree of the valve is kept as it is. Accordingly, even when the guide vane fails to close in an emergency, the abnormal increase of the water pressure on the water wheel can be prevented and the water wheel can be stopped smoothly.
