Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare polyurethane improved in hardness reduction in thermal aging at high temperatures, in hydrolytic properties, etc., by curing a prepolymer with two or more terminal isocyanate groups, employing a specific liquid chloroprene polymer containing hydroxy groups at curing agents.
CONSTITUTION: Chloroprene polymer, having two or more hydroxy groups and a number-average molecular weight between 500 and 10,000, is obtained by the radical copolymerization in solvent of a hydroxy group-containing polymerizable monomer represented by the formula, where R is a 2W3C hydrocarbon group; n is 1 or 2, and chloroprene monomer (along with which other copolymerizable monomers may be used), in the presence of an aliphatic mercapto alcohols. Said chloroprene polymer is used as a curing agnet. In this instance, from about 5W100pts.wt. curing agent above described is added to 100pts.wt. of prepolymer with two or more terminal isocyanate groups (e.g. a reaction product of polypropylene glycol and polyisocyanate), and the mixture is reacted to prepare said polyurethane.
