Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the intake-air filling efficiency by providing a supercharging channel separately from an intake channel, opening the valve of the supercharging channel near the completion of an intake stroke and thereby introducing high-pressure air additionally.
CONSTITUTION: A compressor 1 is connected with a crank shaft 2 common to cylinders #1W#4 and driven thereby, causing intake and discharge actions of one cycle for one rotation of a crank. When an intake valve 3 is closed for transfer to a compression stroke after completion of the intake stroke of an engine, an auxiliary intake valve 5 is opened. High-pressure air from the supercharging channel 10 blows out thereby into a cylinder simultaneously with the compression action based on the rise of a piston 13 and thus the pressure inside the cylinder is increased. Before gas flows back to a supercharging port 11, the auxiliary intake valve 5 is closed and thereby supercharging action is completed.
