Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain platelike lead titanate particles by holding platelike titanium dioxide particles in lead oxide vapor and reacting them.
CONSTITUTION: Lead oxide is heated to the m.p. or above in a tightly sealed container to generate lead oxide vapor, and platelike titanium dioxide grown in a direction perpendicular to the C-axis is held in the vapor to react the titanium dioxide and lead oxide. Thus, platelike lead titanate is manufactured. The platelike titanium dioxide used is prepared by reacting titanium tetrachloride with a mixed gas of hydrogen and CO2 or a mixed gas of oxygen and nitrogen at a high temp.
