Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain platelike lead titanate particles by reacting platelike titanium dioxide particles and lead-contg. starting material.
CONSTITUTION: Lead-contg. salt is dissolved in a solvent. Platelike titanium dioxide particles grown in a direction perpendicular to the C-axis are dispersed in the soln., and dried particles are obtd. by spray drying, freeze drying or other method. The particles are then heat treated to react the titanium dioxide and lead-contg. salt. Thus, platelike lead titanate particles are manufactured. The platelike titanium dioxide used is prepared by reacting titanium tetrachloride with a mixed gas of hydrogen and CO2 or a mixed gas of oxygen and nitrogen at a high temp.
