Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title sheet contg. a specified amt. of C, Si and Mn, and a specified amt. of one or more out of Nb, V, Ti and Mo other than the balance Fe and capable of controlling formation of dust.
CONSTITUTION: The sheet contains C 0.02W0.12%, Si 0.01W0.2%, Mn 2W3.5% and one or more out of Nb≤0.15%, V≤0.15%, Ti≤0.1% and Mo≤0.5% other than the balance Fe essentially. The best counterplan to control formation of dust in spot welding is a reduction in electric resistance peculiar to the base material, so the content of Si having the largest influence is minimized, and a lowering in tensile strength is compensated by adding a necessary amt. of one or more out of Nb, V, Ti, and Mo. By this compsn. the dust formation current of the sheet is made very high compared to a conventional one, and superior spot weldability can be provided.
