Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce wear and chasing of a belt, by driving the belt while holding it with a jet air flow formed in a clearance between the belt and air injection device having a slit made in one direction.
CONSTITUTION: Air injection devices 1 are set close to and inside a belt 13 extended between pulleys 12, 12. The device 1 has an air chamber 2, injection port 3, slit 4 and holding surface 5, the slit 4 being almost in parallel with the driving direction of the belt 13. As compressed air is blasted toward the belt 13 through the injection port 3, the air flows out in the injeting direction after being collided with the belt 13 to form a jet flow A in a clearance 11. This produces negative pressure around the belt to adsorb it to the holding surface 5, but a force in the arrow A' direction caused by the slit 4 works on the belt 13 to drive it in the said direction.
