PURPOSE: To provide a perfume composition having improved, modified and enhanced perfume, containing very small amounts of N-phenyl-2-formylpyrrole and/or N-lower alkylphenyl-2-formylpyrrole derivative.
CONSTITUTION: A perfume composition containing (pref. 0.001W1% of) N-phenyl- 2-formylpyrrole and/or N-lower alkylphenyl-2-formylpyrrole derivative of formula (n is 0W4). Each of the above components has no particular smell, however, it improves and enhances the smell of other perfume. For example, addition of a very small amount of the above compound to a vanilla perfume composition gives a caramel-like flavor to the composition. It is useful for the flavoring of tobacco and cosmetic as well as food.
