Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a perfume composition having improved, modified or enhanced perfume, containing very small amounts of N-β-phenylethyl formamide and/or N-β-phenylethyl acetamide.
CONSTITUTION: A perfume composition containing 0.001W1% of N-β-phenylethyl formamide and/or N-β-phenylethyl acetamide of formula (R is H or methyl). The above compound has no particular smell, however, it improves and enhances the smell of other compound. For example, addition of a very small amount of the compound to a fruit-flavor composition improves the mildness and freshness of the flavor. It is useful for the improvement of tobacco flavor and cosmetic flavor as well as flavor for food.
