Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a steel having superior partial form memory effect by adding a specified amt. of Mn to Fe.
CONSTITUTION: 15.9W30.0% Mn is added to a low carbon low silicon steel, whereby the steel becomes of such a component range that the Ms point is room temp. or above and the As point is made as low as possible. After applying a plastic working strain at room temp. the steel is heated to the As point or above and cooled to room temp. below the Ms point to provide superior partial form memory effect. Using this steel a bolt or the like is manufactured. When this bolt is held with a nut, heated to 375°C, kept at the temp. for 20min, and cooled to room temp., the nut is slightly loosened in a loosening test by vibration. Since this steel has such properties as the expansion and shrinkage quantities are about twice or more as much as those of ordinary steel, large expansion and shrinkage are applied by making use of low temp. waste heat from a plant and turned into a rotary motion applicable to small size production of electric power.
