Abstract

PURPOSE: To relieve a barrel of thermal stress arising from the temperature difference between pipes and the barrel by splitting the barrel into two in a plane perpendicular to the axial direction, arranging an outer barrel on the outside of the barrel, and welding the end portions of the tube plates to the upper and lower ends of the outer barrel.
CONSTITUTION: An upper tube plate 1 and a lower tube plate 2 are connected with pipes 3 through an outer barrel 6. A barrel 4 is split into two at portion b, which portion is contact with a presser plate 7 fixed through a presser plate receiver 8 arranged inside the outer barrel 6. An insulating material is filled in between the outer barrel 6 and the barrel 4 through a manhole 9. When a displacement difference has occurred due to the temperature difference between the pipes 3 and the barrel 4, the barrel 4 can freely slide at the portion b in the axial direction along the presser plate 7, so that the displacement difference is absorbed by the flexure at portion C of the outer barrel 6.
