Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove cladding substances effectively from polluted ion exchange resin by a physical cleaning method in which separated cation exchange resin is dipped in an acid aqueous solution and then a stirring gas is supplied into the acid aqueous solution.
CONSTITUTION: A polluted resin mixture is separated into anion exchange resin and cation exchange resin by a specific gravity difference method, and then the polluted cation exchange resin is introduced into the regenerating tower 11 until the resin reaches the lower level of the acid supply pipe 13 through which an acid aqueous solution is supplied to the regenerating tower 11 for dipping the polluted resin. Then, air is supplied into the tower 11 through the air and water supply pipe 12 by opening the scrubbing air valve 1 and the vent valve 9 but by closing all other valves for making scrubbing for a given period of time in order to separate cladding substances occluded in the polluted resin in the acid aqueous solution.
