Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately detect a direction as well through simple constitution, by comparing the phases of the Doppler signals of two mixers provided in series between the output terminal of a directional coupler and a circulator. CONSTITUTION:Most of the oscillation output of an oscillator 1 is transmitted through a directional coupler 2, a matching unit 4, a circulator 3 and an antenna 5 and the other of the oscillation output is applied as a local oscillation signal to diode mixers which are provided in series between the output terminal of the couple 2 and the circulator 3 and which have a phase difference of theta. Doppler signals Sd1, Sd2, which are generated by the mixers 6, 7 which act on reflected and received waves from a target, have a phase difference of 2theta. The phase of each Doppler signal is advanced or delayed depending on the approaching or moving- away of the target. The phases of the Doppler signals produced by the mixers 6, 7 are compared with each other by a phase comparator 10. As a result, not only the velocity of the target but also its moving direction can be detected through a simple construction.
