Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the elution of noxious heavy metal components at low cost by a method wherein a solidification accelerant or a reductant is added as necessary under the existance of Ca component and impalpable waste containing heary metal is molded.
CONSTITUTION: A Ca component, such as CaCO3, CaOCaSO4, CaCl2, Ca(OH)2, etc. is added and mixed to impalpable powder waste containing noxious heavy metal components in approximate 10wt% as CaO. When the waste contains only the Ca component and is difficult to be solidified, silicic substance, such as diatomite, silicic white earth, silica, water glass, etc., clays, Al2O3, fly ash, etc. are added in approximate 10W30wt% as a solidification accelerant. When the waste contains sexivalent Cr, a reductant, such as the salt of bivalent iron ions, sulfurous acid (salt), coke, etc. is added and mixed in approximate 5W15wt%, and the waste is press-molded and solidified under the existence of press urized steam in 2kg.f /cm2 in an autoclave.
