Abstract
PURPOSE: Aqueous phase containing acidic phosphate ester and water soluble polybalent metal salt is added with alkali, thereby precipitaing solid containing acidic phosphate ester to provide an easy and effective removal means.
CONSTITUTION: To aqueous phase containing acidic phosphate ester such as di(2- ethylhexyl) hydrogen phosphate and water soluble polybalent metal salt, alkali such as ammonia water and sodium hydroxide is added and stirred to precipitate solid containing acidic phosphate ester. The precipitate is removed by filtering to provide treated water having a drastically reduced content of acidic phosphate ester, thereby decreasing the load of water treatment. If aqueous phase contains only a little amount of polybalent metal salts, proper addion of calcium chloride is preferred.
