CONSTITUTION: The initial letter of a word inputted to input buffer register 4 is detected by coincidence circuit 6 through the operation of retrieval indication key 5. Corresponding to the detected letter, a prescribed retrieval initial address is set in address counter 7. On the basis of the connection state of switch circuit 20, the circuit 6 detects whether a word supplied from one of keyword memory parts 111W 141 agrees with that supplied from input buffer register 4. Since words of any language have been arrayed methodically according to a specific array rule, this retrieving method is applicable.
