Abstract
PURPOSE: To simply produce a high density sintered body with no pore, by filling a powder metallic material containing at least one of nitrogen affinitive element into a vessel, and by performing hot hydrostatic press (HIP) without deaeration.
CONSTITUTION: The alloy, high speed steel or cast iron of Fe, Ni, Co, Ti, etc. is changed into nitrogen affinitive metallic powder by means of a nitrogen gas atomization method. The powder metal is filled into a seal vessel made of metal, glass or the complex material of metal and glass. In this case, the powder metal is filled at not less than 0.65 filling rate in response to the oxygen concn. and density of the powder material. After the material is preheated at not less than 800°C - preferably, 1000W1100°C - without deaerating air in the vessel, the material is HIP treated, thus producing sintered products. Products have extremely high density, and ones with not more than 150ppm oxygen content can simply be manufactured
