Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve volumetric efficiency and reduce passage resistance by specializing the form of the discharge passage of a cylinder head and the form of a discharge valve arranged in the passage.
CONSTITUTION: A discharge passage 16 in a cylinder head 15 is formed to be an annular passage divergent towards a discharge chamber 9, and a discharge valve 20 is formed to be an annular valve of convex section matching the discharge passage 16 and pressed against the discharge passage 16 by plural coil springs 21. By so doing, during the fall of a piston 14, suction gas is drawn into a cylinder 8 through a suction passage 2 and a suction valve 4, and during the rise of the piston 14, the gas in the cylinder 8 is discharged to the discharge chmber 9 through the discharge passage 16 and the discharge valve 20. As the discharge valve 20 opens, the passage area increases, the passage resistance and residual gas are reduced, resulting in the increase of suction gas quantity and the improvement of volumetric efficiency
