Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate loss even against non-modulated light by interposing a crystal plate having Faraday effect betweeen a plurality of double refractive crystal plates.
CONSTITUTION: Double refractive crystal plates 11, 13, 14 which are cut out from uniaxial crystal in such a manner that the optical axis thereof inclines to the surface and have been polished to parallel flat plates are so disposed that the double refractive crystal plates 13, 14 assume an angle of 45° to the double refractive crystal plate 11 with the incident ray direction 10 as an axis. In addition, a crystal plate 12 which is formed by YIG, etc. and has Faraday effect is interposed between the double refractive crystal plates 11, 13. Then, the non-polarized light 10 coming from the left side is separated to the light having mutually perpendicular polarization within the crystal of the double refractive crystal plate 11, after which the plane of polarization is rotated 45° by the crystal plate 12, thence the light having the polarization direction parallel to the optical axis of the double refractive crystal plates 13, 14 advances diagonally within the crystals of these plates 13, 14, and is again combined to one light, which is then emitted.
