Abstract

PURPOSE: In a reheating steam turbine of a counterflow type, to connect the intermediate gland part to a steam seal adjusting device and to open a connecting valve by a turbine stop signal, thereby to carry out steam sealing econimically.
CONSTITUTION: In a reheating steam turbine of a counterflow type, sealing steam is generally provided by leaked steam from a high-pressure gland steam packing 6 of a high-pressure turbine 2 and is supplied to a steam seal header 14. Surplus steam is led through an escape valve 16 to a condenser 9. When the turbine trips and thus turbine bypass valves 24 and 27 have beenn opened, an intermediate gland seal steam supply valve 21 is opened through an operating device 23 by a turbine trip signal 22. According to the device, the intermediat part of the intermediate gland steam seal packing 8 is maintained substantially at the atmospheric pressure, and it is possible to reduce the steam leakage from a lalaby packing 29 to the minimum.
