Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a coupling method for plate members which make it possible to decrease finish working operations and to obtain a coupled part having high quality by suppressing the deformation of the plate members by build-up welding. CONSTITUTION:A projecting line part 1c and a serration part 1d are formed at the end edge 1a of a rear quarter panel 1 and a step part 2c is formed at the end edge 2a of a roof panel 2. The step part 2c of the roof panel 2 is superposed on the serration part 1d of the rear quarter panel 1. The mating part 4 of the plate members formed of the serration part 1d and the end face 2b of the roof panel 2 is subjected to build up welding. As a result, the rigidity is improved by the projecting line part 1c and the step part 1c. The deformation, such as thermal strains, is prevented, the finish working operations are decreased and the coupling part having the improved quality, such as the improvement of the strength, is provided.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a method of connecting plate members, and in particular, one plate member having a stepped portion and a general portion bent in different steps is superposed with an edge portion of the other plate member. The present invention relates to a method of joining plate members, which performs build-up welding on a mating portion of a plate member formed by the stepped portion and the edge of the other plate member.

2. Description of the Related Art For example, as a method of connecting plate members in an automobile manufacturing factory, as shown in FIG. 5, for example, a rear quarter panel 21 is bent in different steps, and an edge 22a of a roof panel 22 is overlapped on the outer side thereof. The uneven portion 21a
And the end face 22b of the roof panel 22, a mating portion 23 of the plate member having a concave cross section is formed, and the vicinity of the mating portion 23 of the plate member of the roof panel 22 is pressed by the movable electrode 24 toward the rear quarter panel 21 side. Spot welding was performed and temporary attachment was performed, and then overlay welding was performed by overlay welding as shown by a chain double-dashed line 25. However, in such a joining method, since the roof panel 22 is strongly pressed against the rear quarter panel 21 by the movable electrode 24 during spot welding, a circular recess 22a 'is left on the surface of the roof panel 22. Therefore, after the spot welding is completed, this dent 22
Since it is necessary to erase a ', it is necessary to fill the concave portion 22a' with a filling material.

As a countermeasure against this, a method of joining two plate members without leaving a welding dent is disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 63-563.
A welding method according to Japanese Patent No. 66 has been proposed. In this welding method, as shown in the cross section of the main part in FIG. 6, for example, the rear quarter panel 21, which is one plate member, is bent in different steps, and the end of the roof panel 22, which is the other plate member, is placed on the stepped portion 21a. The edge portions 22a are overlapped with each other, and the rear quarter panel 21 and the end surface 22b of the roof panel 22 form a mating portion 23 of the plate member.
The movable electrode 24 is brought into contact with 2b to perform indirect spot welding.

As shown in FIG. 7, a cooling metal fitting 26 is arranged near the mating portion 23 of the plate member, and the inert gas 28 is supplied by the gas nozzle 27.
In the MIG welding method, the metal electrode 29, which is the filler material, is blown to the welded portion so as to wrap it and the welding is performed without being adversely affected by oxygen and nitrogen in the atmosphere. When the overlay welding is completed, finishing work is performed by a grinder or the like so that the welded surface becomes smooth.

According to the above plate member joining method, the movable electrode is brought into contact with and pressed against the end face of one plate member to perform spot welding, and then the overlay welding is performed at the joining portion of the plate members. Since this is performed, the two plate members can be welded and joined together without leaving a welding dent due to spot welding during temporary attachment on the surface of the plate members.

However, the heat distortion of the plate member due to the heating by the overlay welding is large and a sink mark is generated. As a countermeasure against this, finishing work is required, in which the plate member is tapped from the back side and the front side is repeatedly ground by a grinder or the like. Since this finishing work requires the skill of the worker and depends on the skill of the individual worker, it may lead to deterioration of the finish quality and quality such as reduction of the plate thickness of the plate member. In addition to the large amount of deposited metal remaining outside the surface of the plate member, there are problems such as an increase in finishing man-hours and a deterioration in working environment due to grinding powder and the like.

In the plate member joining method according to the present invention for achieving the above object, an end edge portion of one plate member includes a general portion and a stepped portion which is bent in a stepwise manner with respect to the general portion. Then, the edge portion of the other plate member is superposed on the stepped portion, and the welded portion of the plate member formed by the stepped portion and the end surface of the other plate member is welded by welding, and then the padding is performed. In a method of joining plate members for finishing a welded portion smoothly, the one plate member has a ridge protruding toward the front surface between a general portion and a stepped portion, and an edge portion of the other plate member. Has a stepped portion that is bent in a stepwise manner protruding to the surface side, and is formed by the stepped portion and the end surface of the other plate member by superposing the stepped portion of the other plate member on the stepped portion of the one plate member. Overlay welding is performed on the mating parts of the plate members that are It is intended to obtain a smooth surface continuous with the general part of the one and the other members of the parts and the stepped portion is subjected to finish machining to grinding from the surface side.

Subsequent to the build-up welding, finish processing for smoothing the surface of the welded portion 3 is performed. The finishing work is performed by punching out from the back surface of the joint part because the heat distortion and the deformation such as sink marks generated at the joint part of the rear quarter panel 1 and the roof panel 2 and its periphery are suppressed and the welding is performed. Can be omitted or greatly reduced, and it can be almost dealt with only by grinding work from the surface side with a grinder or the like.

Grinding work, mainly on the rear quarter panel 1 serving as a finishing allowance for smoothing the ground and welded portions of the deposited metal 5a protruding from the mating portion 4 of the plate member onto the rear quarter panel 1 and the roof panel 2. By grinding the formed ridge portion 1c and the step portion 2c formed on the roof panel 2, the general portions 1b, 2 of the rear quarter panel 1 and the roof panel 2 are ground.
A smooth surface that is continuous with d can be obtained, the grinding area can be significantly reduced compared to the conventional grinding area, the finishing work can be greatly simplified, and the working environment due to grinding powder etc. can be avoided, and the rear quarter As the amount of grinding of the panel 1 and the roof panel 2 is reduced, a sufficient plate thickness can be secured, a decrease in rigidity strength is prevented, and a high quality welded joint is obtained.

The step portion of the other plate member is superposed on the stepped portion of the plate member, and the welded portion of the plate member formed by the stepped portion and the end surface of the other plate member is subjected to build-up welding, and then the build-up welded portion,
A method of joining plate members, characterized in that a finishing process of grinding the ridge portion and the step portion from the surface side is performed to obtain a smooth surface that is continuous with the general portion of the one and the other members.
