Description

本開示の薬剤送達デバイスから分注される治療用流体または製剤は、溶液、分散液、懸濁液、乳濁液、または別の適切な流体形態など、様々な形態をとり得る。薬剤送達デバイスは、患者、介護者または医療従事者によって概して本明細書に記載されているような様式で操作されて、薬を人に送達する。
治療用流体を患者に送達するための例示の送達デバイス1000、1000´が図1および2に示されている。デバイス1000´は、デバイス1000と類似しており、同様の要素はプライム付きの参照番号で示されている。以下の説明はデバイス1000に言及しているが、この説明はデバイス1000´にも適用可能である。他の適切な送達デバイスが提供され得る。
ガスを発生させるために本開示の薬剤送達デバイス内で使用できる多くの適切な化学試薬が存在する。発生するガスの例には、二酸化炭素ガス、窒素ガス、酸素ガス、塩素ガスなどが含まれる。望ましくは、発生するガスは、不活性かつ不燃性である。薬剤送達デバイスを操作するのに必要なガスの量および治療用流体のための望ましい送達速度は、デバイスで使用される各試薬の種類、量、相、および濃度に影響を与える可能性がある。
この実施例において、発明者らは、薬剤送達デバイスで発生した圧力および反応速度(圧力(psig)対時間(s)として表される)と、結果として生じる約20℃の温度で約20cPの粘度を有する治療用流体の治療送達または流量(質量(g)対時間(s)として表される)を評価した。
ポリマー酸のゲルディスクの2つの別々の変形例が準備された。一方の変形例は100%のアクリル酸を含み、他方の変形例は80%のアクリル酸を含んでいた。直径14ミリメートルを有するゲルディスクが、液体アクリル酸、0.5重量%のメチルプロピオフェノン、および5000ppmのアクリルアミドを混合し、30ゲージの針で注射器に溶液を引き込み、Oリングを介した2つのガラスプレートの間に溶液を注入し、次いで形成されたディスクをUV光で約1分間硬化させることによって調製された。さらに、溶解した重炭酸カリウムの溶液が25mg/mLの濃度で調製された。3つの150mgアクリル酸ゲルディスク合計450mgが圧力容器内に置かれ、その後にその圧力容器は閉じられて圧力センサに接続された。次いで、2.5mLの重炭酸カリウム溶液が圧力容器内に注入され、データが圧力センサから読み取られた。図5に示すように、圧力発生速度は、ポリマー酸の酸性濃度または含水量によって影響を受ける。より具体的には、示すように、より低い酸濃度またはより高い含水量(80%アクリル酸)は、より高い酸濃度またはより低い含水量(100%アクリル酸)よりも遅い速度でガスを発生させた。
この実施例において、本発明者らは、薬剤送達デバイスで発生した圧力速度(圧力(psig)対時間(s)として表される)と、結果として生じる約20℃の温度で約20cPの粘度を有する(1.17g/mLの密度)治療用流体の治療送達速度(質量(g)対時間(s)として表される)を評価した。
Claims (12)
- 化学反応によって治療用流体を送達するためのデバイスであって、
第1のチャンバ、第2のチャンバ、および第3のチャンバを有するハウジング
を含み、
前記デバイスは、
前記第1のチャンバが液体塩基を含み、前記第2のチャンバがポリマー酸を含み、前記第3のチャンバが前記治療用流体を含む装填構成と、
前記液体塩基が前記ポリマー酸と反応して、前記第3のチャンバから前記治療用流体を送達する推進ガスを発生させる送達構成と
を有する、前記デバイス。 - 前記液体塩基が炭酸塩含有塩基である、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記ポリマー酸が架橋されている、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記ポリマー酸が、ポリアクリル酸、ポリメタクリル酸、およびポリマレイン酸のうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記ポリマー酸が、80%以上の酸含有量を有する、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記ポリマー酸が、100%の酸含有量を有する、請求項5に記載のデバイス。
- 前記装填構成において、前記第2のチャンバは、前記ポリマー酸と組み合わせて二次酸を含む、請求項1に記載のデバイス。
- 前記二次酸がクエン酸である、請求項7に記載のデバイス。
