Description
図5に示す如く、密封端面6a、密封環側シール面63a及び係止面62aを除く軸側密封環6の表面部分であって内周側領域Bの液体に接触する部分に、前記ダイヤモンド膜14a,14bに連なるダイヤモンド膜14eを一連に形成しておくことができる。このようにすれば、ダイヤモンド膜14eにより液体との接触面積が増大して、上記した摩擦伝熱の遮断効果及び密封環側シール面63a及び係止面62aの冷却効果がより顕著に発揮されることになる。

Claims (8)
- シールケースに固定されたケース側密封環と、
回転軸に弾性材製の環状パッキンを介して軸線方向に移動可能に保持された軸側密封環と、を備え、
ケース側密封環および軸側密封環が対向する密封端面が接触しながら相対回転することにより、当該密封端面の内外周側領域の一方である液体領域とその他方である気体領域とを遮蔽シールするように構成されたメカニカルシールであって、
前記軸側密封環が、セラミックス又は超硬合金により形成され、
前記軸側密封環の先端部に密封端面が形成されると共に、前記軸側密封環の内周部に回転軸の外周面である軸側シール面と同心且つ平行をなす密封環側シール面を有し、
前記環状パッキンが、密封環側シール面と軸側シール面との間に当該両シール面間をシールした状態で軸線方向に相対移動可能に装填され、
前記密封環側シール面にダイヤモンド膜を形成したメカニカルシール。 - 前記密封端面を除く軸側密封環の表面部分であり、前記液体領域の液体が接触する部分に、前記ダイヤモンド膜に連なるダイヤモンド膜を形成した請求項1に記載のメカニカルシール。
- 前記密封端面の外周側領域がその内周側領域より高圧である場合において、外周側領域の圧力による前記環状パッキンの前記シール面間から内周側領域方向への飛び出しが、軸側密封環の内周部に密封環側シール面に直交して形成された環状面であって軸側シール面に遊嵌された係止面により阻止されており、当該係止面に前記ダイヤモンド膜に連なるダイヤモンド膜を形成した請求項1又は2に記載のメカニカルシール。
- 前記係止面と前記環状パッキンとの間には、樹脂製のバックアップリングを軸側シール面に軸線方向への相対移動が可能な状態で嵌合させた請求項3に記載のメカニカルシール。
- 前記ケース側密封環が、シールケースに固定された静止環と、当該静止環に相対回転が阻止された状態で連結されて当該静止環と前記軸側密封環との間に保持された遊動環と、を有する請求項1〜4の何れかに記載のメカニカルシール。
- 前記軸側密封環の密封端面に、前記ダイヤモンド膜と分離された形態でダイヤモンド膜を形成した請求項1〜5の何れかに記載のメカニカルシール。
- 前記環状パッキンが、ゴム製のOリングである請求項1〜6の何れかに記載のメカニカルシール。
- 前記ダイヤモンド膜の厚さが1μm以上である請求項1〜7何れかに記載のメカニカルシール。
