Description
a)少なくとも部分的に中和されていてよい、エチレン性不飽和の酸基含有モノマー、
b)少なくとも1種の架橋剤、
c)少なくとも1種の開始剤、
d)任意に、a)で挙げられるモノマーと共重合可能な1種以上のエチレン性不飽和モノマー及び
e)任意に、1種以上の水溶性ポリマー
を含むモノマー溶液又はモノマー懸濁液を、少なくとも0.1m3の反応容積及び少なくとも2つの軸平行に回転するシャフトを有する混練機であって、該シャフトには、混練機の出発点で添加された反応混合物を軸方向に向かって混練機の終点に送り出す複数の混練エレメント及び移送エレメントが存在する、該混練機中で重合することによって吸水性ポリマー粒子を製造する方法において、モノマー溶液が、中和されていないモノマーa)を基準として、0.01〜0.2質量%の開始剤c)を含み、混練機外壁を供給領域においてトレース加熱し、かつトレース加熱の温度が少なくとも110℃であることを特徴とする方法によって解決された。
吸水性ポリマー粒子は、モノマー溶液又はモノマー懸濁液の重合によって製造され、かつ通常は水不溶性である。
以下に記載した"WSP"で表記される標準試験法は、"Worldwide Strategic Partners"EDANA(欧州不織布協会)(Avenue Eugene Plasky 157,1030 Brussels,Belgium,www.edana.org)及びINDA(米国不織布協会)(1100 Crescent Green,Suite 115,Cary,North Carolina 27518,U.S.A.,www.inda.org)により共同で出版された"Standard Test Methods for the Nonwovens Industry",2005 editionに記載されている。この刊行物は、EDANAからもINDAからも入手可能である。
膨潤速度(FSR)の測定のために、吸水性ポリマー粒子1.00g(W=1)を25mlのビーカーに量り入れ、かつ均一に該ビーカーの底に分散させる。それから0.9質量%の食塩溶液20mlをディスペンサーによって第二のビーカーに計量供給し、このガラスの中身を第一のガラスに素早く添加し、ストップウォッチを開始する。塩溶液の最後の液滴が吸収されたら(これは、液体表面の反射が消えることで認識される)即座に、ストップウォッチを停止する。第二のビーカーから注ぎ出された、かつポリマーによって第一のビーカー内で吸収された正確な液体量を、第二のビーカーを再秤量することによって正確に測定する(=W2)。ストップウォッチで測った吸収に必要な期間をtで表す。表面上の最後の液滴の消失を時点tとして測定する。

しかしながら、吸水性ポリマー粒子の湿分含有率が3質量%を超えたら、質量W1をこの湿分含有率について修正する。
0.3psi(2070Pa)の圧力負荷下での膨潤したゲル層の液体誘導性(SFC)を、EP0640330A1に記載の通り、吸水性ポリマー粒子からの膨潤したゲル層のゲル層透過度として定め、その際、前述の特許出願の第19頁及び図8に記載される装置を、ガラスフリット(40)はもはや使用せず、プランジャー(39)は円筒体(37)と同じプラスチック材料から成り、そのとき全接触面にわたって均等に割り当てられて21個の同一サイズの穿孔を含むように一部変更した。測定の手順並びに評価は、EP0640330A1と変わらない。流量は自動的に検出する。
SFC[cm3s/g]=(Fg(t=0)×L0)/(d×A×WP)、
式中、Fg(t=0)はg/秒記載のNaCl溶液の流量であり、これは、流量測定のデータFg(t)の線形回帰分析を手がかりにしてt=0に対する外挿法によって得られ、L0はcm記載のゲル層の厚さであり、dはg/cm3記載のNaCl溶液の密度であり、Aはcm2記載のゲル層の面積であり、かつWPはdyn/cm2記載のゲル層上の静水圧である。
吸水性ポリマー粒子のpH値は、EDANAにより推奨される試験法No.WSP 200.2−02 "pH of Polyacrylate(PA)Powders"に従って測定する。
吸水性ポリマー粒子の残留モノマーの含有量は、EDANAにより推奨される試験法No.WSP 210.2−02 "Residual Monomers"に従って測定する。
吸水性ポリマー粒子の湿分含有量は、EDANAにより推奨される試験法No.WSP 230.2−02 "Mass Loss Upon Heating"に従って測定する。
遠心保持容量(CRC)は、EDANAにより推奨される試験法No.WSP 241.2−05 "Fluid Retention Capacity in Saline,After Centrifugation"に従って測定する。
49.2g/cm2の圧力下(AUL0.7psi)での吸収量は、EDANAによって推奨される試験法No.WSP 242.2−05 "Absorption Under Pressure,Gravimetric Determination"と同じように測定し、ここでは、21.0g/cm2の圧力(AUL0.3psi)の代わりに49.2g/cm2の圧力(AUL0.7psi)を設定する。
吸水性ポリマー粒子の抽出可能な構成成分の含量は、EDANAによって推奨される試験法No.WSP 270.2−05 "Extractable"に従って測定する。
中和度が71.0モル%に相当するように、脱イオン水、50質量%の水酸化ナトリウム溶液及びアクリル酸の連続的な混合によって、アクリル酸/アクリル酸ナトリウム溶液を製造した。モノマー溶液の固体含有率は42.0質量%であった。架橋剤として、3箇所でエトキシ化されたグリセリントリアクリレート(約85質量%)を使用した。使用量は、中和されていないアクリル酸を基準として0.383質量%であった。

例1と同じように処理を行った。反応器ジャケットの温度は、加熱用蒸気により120℃に調節した。反応混合物の最大温度は112℃であった。開始剤ペルオキソ二硫酸ナトリウムの量は3段階で下げた。結果を、表1及び2の中でまとめている。
Claims (13)
- a)少なくとも部分的に中和されていてよい、エチレン性不飽和の酸基含有モノマー、
b)少なくとも1種の架橋剤、
c)少なくとも1種の開始剤、
d)任意に、a)で挙げられるモノマーと共重合可能な1種以上のエチレン性不飽和モノマー及び
e)任意に、1種以上の水溶性ポリマー
を含むモノマー溶液又はモノマー懸濁液を、少なくとも0.1m3の反応容積及び少なくとも2つの軸平行に回転するシャフトを有する混練機中であって、前記シャフトには、混練機の出発点で添加された反応混合物を軸方向に向かって混練機の終点に送り出す複数の混練エレメント及び移送エレメントが存在する、前記混練機中で重合することによって吸水性ポリマー粒子を製造する方法において、前記モノマー溶液が、前記酸基を中和する前の中和されていないモノマーa)を基準として0.01〜0.2質量%の開始剤c)を含み、混練機外壁を供給領域においてトレース加熱し、そしてトレース加熱の温度が少なくとも110℃であり、前記反応混合物の最大温度が少なくとも105℃であり、かつ前記トレース加熱の温度は前記反応混合物の最大温度を超えるものであることを特徴とする、前記方法。 - 前記開始剤c)の少なくとも50質量%が過酸化物であることを特徴とする、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記開始剤c)の少なくとも50質量%がペルオキソ二硫酸ナトリウムであることを特徴とする、請求項1又は2記載の方法。
- 前記混練機外壁の前方50%をトレース加熱することを特徴とする、請求項1から3までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記混練機外壁の全体をトレース加熱することを特徴とする、請求項1から4までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記混練機外壁をジャケットによってトレース加熱することを特徴とする、請求項1から5までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記混練機外壁を加熱用蒸気によってトレース加熱することを特徴とする、請求項6記載の方法。
- 前記加熱用蒸気が1.4〜16barの圧力を有することを特徴とする、請求項7記載の方法。
- 前記モノマーa)の少なくとも50モル%が部分的に中和されたアクリル酸であることを特徴とする、請求項1から8までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記モノマーa)の25〜85モル%が中和されていることを特徴とする、請求項1から9までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記モノマー溶液が、前記中和されていないモノマーa)を基準として、0.05〜1.5質量%の架橋剤b)を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1から10までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記吸水性ポリマー粒子を、前記粒子の少なくとも90質量%が150超〜850μmの粒径を有するように分級することを特徴とする、請求項1から11までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記吸水性ポリマー粒子を付加的に表面後架橋することを特徴とする、請求項1から12までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
